The parish church was classified a historical monument in 1946. It is dedicated to St. Germain. Indeed, in the sixth century, Civray-de-Touraine was an estate belonging to St. Germain, Bishop of Paris.
The oldest parts of the building are now almost 900 years since they date from the twelfth century: it is the nave and transept. The choir at the bedside dish and Angevin vaulting dates from the thirteenth century as the three stained glass windows depicting St. Germain's life. Inside, a stone emblazoned altar of the seventeenth century comes from the dungeon of Mesvres.
The church occupies the site of an older sanctuary was found in the nineteenth century, the ruins of a Carolingian baptistry (eighth century) with a tank pottery (a dolium) which was to be originally (fourth or fifth century) a large jar used for storage of grain; dolium it is kept in Tours, Hotel Gouin Museum of the Archaeological Society of Touraine. The facade was restored after a bomb damaged the church in 1944.
