Ciboure

Ciboure is a seaside resort along the Atlantic Ocean and close to the foothills of the Pyrenees. Nestled in the bay of Saint-Jean-de-Luz - Ciboure, it is famous for its sandy beaches, its mild climate and preserved its authenticity.

Built at the end of the bridge of the Nivelle, between the ocean and the hills of Bordagain, Ciboure is remarkable for the beauty of its location, its pristine natural surroundings and picturesque façade of its docks ...

Basque name, Zubiburu means "bridgehead". Originally the town was a district of Urrugne. Ciboure is a village of artists. Exposition : Berregin, Retour sur le Chantier

CIAP Les Récollets - Errekoletoak -
Over a period of more than two years, the former convent underwent a major restoration to become the CIAP Les Récollets - Errekoletoak. The exhibition "Berregin, retour sur le chantier" ("Berregin, back to the site") takes you right to the heart of the work on this site. Worksite notebooks created by drawing enthusiasts in the company of artist Marie Dupont will sit alongside eight portraits of craftsmen taken by photographer Mathieu Mengaillou. A video report, produced throughout the project, will enhance this visual journey. In a dedicated area, children will be invited to leave their testimonials on this major project. - Visible during CIAP opening hours, ticket included.

Ciboure ? S Arte Bideak gallery presents "Hommage à SISTIAGA", the first solo exhibition of the Basque artist ? S work after his death in June 2023. The exhibition, with its carefully selected works, opens on April 12 - will close on May 26.25 works by the remarkable artist, paintings that chronologically assemble over five decades of several of his creative stages, from the mid-twentieth century to the third lustre of the twenty-first. The exhibition begins with exceptional inks produced during his stay in Paris (1959 to 1961). This is followed by a vast body of work produced in 1973 as he sailed around the world aboard the cargo ship "Bordatxoa" during his seven-month long sea voyage. This is followed by a number of pastels and waxes from the 90s, and concludes with creations - From 2009 to 2015.

The final leg of the basque tour - Following the public and media success of the major exhibition in Figeac last February, AKNA Diffusion, a cultural association based in Saint Jean-de-Luz, has organized a tour of the Basque country, ending in Ciboure, where Patrick Dulac has produced the majority of his works. In a cheerful, colorful style, half figurative, half naive, the artist has painted a series of 80 pictures of identical format (60x60), based on the same motif of a robin. His work is unique in that each painting is designed for a specific recipient. He will be presenting a selection of his works to the public for the very last time.

For its first participation in the Fête de l'Estampe, CIAP Les Récollets -Errekoletoak opens its doors to artists from the Labo estampe collective. - From the chapel to the exhibition rooms, their works will introduce you to the artistic richness of contemporary printmaking. In the belvedere, after a brief historical introduction, you'll also recognize the work of students from the Sainte-Famille d ? Urquijo and Marinela schools, who have been introduced to the art of engraving. Our apprentice engravers have reinterpreted the union of the Sun King and the Infanta of Spain using period engravings. - Visible during CIAP opening hours, ticket included.
