Erected at Valloire-sur-Cisse in the second half of the 13th century, La Guiche Abbey is a fine example of the wealth of the Counts of Blois in the Middle Ages. This former monastery also housed the tombs of the counts for several centuries.
Sold as national property during the French Revolution, the abbey of La Guiche was largely destroyed at the end of the 19th century, revealing today only a gallery of the cloister and a building of the former monastery. Two recumbent effigies, a chapel and a fishpond also take place in the heart of the magnificent four-hectare park.
Accessible during Heritage Days, the site can also be visited by appointment.
