Beauregard Castle is located in the town of Chens-sur-Léman, in Haute-Savoie, 20 km west of Thonon-les-Bains.
Located on the left bank of the Hermance, on the edge of the lake, it was first built as a watchtower in the 13th century, then as a stronghold under the Count of Geneva. It then passed to Count Amédée de Savoie (1402) and to the Costa de Beauregard family in 1670. At first the seat of a châtellenie, the estate was erected into a marquisate in 1700.
Damaged by the Bernese in 1536 then during of the Revolution, the castle is however preserved even if it is the object of alterations over the centuries. Sitting on a terrace overlooking the lake, it has preserved a pentagonal keep currently surmounted by a vast roof. The whole has certainly been modified but the massive character of the origins is still visible.
The property is listed in the Inventory. Private, the castle cannot be visited. However, you can admire its silhouette and the views enjoyed by its guests from the formal gardens which are open to the public.
