Bordering Montrouge, Châtillon commune is located in the Hauts-de-Seine, in the Île-de-France. It is on the way to the Green Belt South Paris, which includes part of Via Turonensis a way to Saint Jacques de Compostela. Located not far from the capital, Châtillon enjoys excellent public transport.

City known since the late twelfth century, which was also called Châtillon-sous-Bagneux, was the scene of many historical upheavals. Dependency of the Abbey of Saint-Germain-des-Prés or battle theater during the War of 1870, the town was francilienne often under the spotlight.

Today more calm, the city remains an attractive place for tourism in Île-de-France, with great development of culture, and a fairly rich heritage.

Things to see and do

On the relatively ancient origin, the town of Châtillon still offers some beautiful sights to discover during a few walks in the city center and its surroundings.

Built between the thirteenth and sixteenth century, St. Philippe and St. Jacques Church has been listed historical monument. It is also possible to admire a religious building later, the Church of Our Lady of Calvary, built between 1932 and 1935. Also listed historical monument, it is built of red brick Bagneux and reveals a style neo Byzantine. Inside, one can admire including several colorful frescoes, such as the coronation of the Virgin who fills the apse.

In early June, the Châtillon party is the scene of several events.
