Former 13th century monastery founded by Hervé IV de Donzy in the town of Châteauneuf-Val-de-Bargis, in the Nièvre, the Carthusian monastery of Bellary now benefits from a partial inscription in the Historic Monuments.
Now private property, the Carthusian monastery of Bellary was originally made up of a church, a prior's house, religious houses, a cloister, a Doric-style door, a chapel or even a mill. Some of these buildings have now disappeared, but it is nevertheless possible to discover the tabernacle-altarpiece of the church at the Auguste-Grasset museum in Varzy or the entrance gate to the cemetery of Beaumont-la-Ferrière.
