Located a few kilometers from Santenay (21) and Chagny (71), is a rural community Chassey-le-Camp charming little of the Côte Chalonnaise.

On its 862 hectares live 343 residents in seven hamlets: the Bourg, Bercully the Couhée, Valotte, Corchanu the Obues and Nantoux.

Above the village is a listed archaeological site, served by the GR7, constantly maintained and visited.

Chassey is indeed the cradle of neolithic civilization called the Chasséen, a time when humans stopped being nomadic to settle and practice farming and culture.

Things to see and do

A Communal Archaeological Interpretation Center is housed in the town hall, at the Village at 1 rue Baboux. Phone. +33 3 85 87 14 56. It includes fifty authentic objects gathered during the excavations on the site Chassey nineteenth and the twentieth century and from museums reservations Nicolas Rolin in Autun and Vivant Denon in Chalon-sur-Saône. It is free and open to the public all year round on Tuesday and Friday from 9am to 12pm and from 14h to 17h and Saturday and Sunday from 14h to 17h in July and August. On request, and for 10 or more, visits (always free) Site and IACAC can be performed.
