Small village in the Ain, in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, Champagne-en-Valromey takes place eighty kilometers from Bourg-en-Bresse, west of the Grand Colombier. It is located in the heart of Valromey, not far from Talissieu, Culoz or Ruffieu.
Rural town mainly oriented towards breeding and agriculture, Champagne-en-Valromey takes its final name in 1956. Occupied since Gallo-Roman times, as evidenced by the remains found on site, it became French at the beginning of the 17th century with for first marquis, Honoré d'Urfé, the famous author of l'Astrée.
