The situation Chalonnes at the confluence of the Loire, Louet and Layon is particularly important. Formerly called "Calonne, the traces of settlement dating back to prehistory. City flourished since the Gallo-Roman, 360-370 evangelized to by a hermit "St Maurille" It is a city flowered ** and classified World Heritage by UNESCO.
