Adorable small village of Ardèche, in region Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, Chalencon takes place about thirty kilometers from Privas and Valencia. Labeled Village of character, it is in the Regional Natural Park of Monts d'Ardèche, close to Vernoux-en-Vivarais, Beauvène and Belsentes.
Old Gallic oppidum before becoming a Roman garrison, the medieval village of Chalencon is one of the oldest baronies of Vivarais. Strongly affected by the wars of religion between the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries as high bastion of Protestantism, he sees its fortifications razed by order of Louis XIII at the same time.
Quieter, Chalencon still represents one of the finest examples of perched villages in the region, revealing a unique architectural heritage and incredible views of the Eyrieux valley.
