Between Wine Route and Crest Route, Cernay stands proud and majestic. Not far from the Vosges massifs, the commune is deployed in the historic Haut-Rhin. Its rich cultural heritage testifies to its tumultuous past. It would seem that the municipality took the name of Sennenheim in 1144 in a document mentioning the vines of the village. The fortified city in 1268 became French with the rest of the Haut-Rhin in 1648. The ravages of the two world wars did not spare the city. However, many monuments have survived and are still visible today. The old stones erected in a green setting are the trademark of Cernay and give off authenticity and warmth of life.
