Member of the Association of the most beautiful villages of France, Capdenac takes place in the Lot. At four kilometers from Figeac, the town lies on the right bank of the Lot, on the edge of the Aveyron department. Also called Capdenac-le-Haut, it dominates one hundred meters the river.

Important archaeological site of the Neolithic, Capdenac occupied since that distant time. A rich architectural heritage still be seen today in the history of the village, which hosted in its time, after the death of Henri IV, the famous Sully.

Walking through the medieval streets, let yourself be transported to another era, admiring the old buildings and the remains of a blessed time. Nearby, the landscapes of the Lot valley leave no indifferent either.

Things to see and do

Capdenac is its integration with the most beautiful villages of France, its unique architectural heritage and its special atmosphere.

In the middle of medieval alleyways, visitors discover with delight from past eras remains, like the dungeon with watch towers of the fourteenth century. Listed historic monument, it notably houses the Office of Tourism of the village, terraces with magnificent views, as well as exhibitions of archaeological items found on site. May especially appreciate the remains of the Roman era, models or explanations of life at that time. Nearby, a garden of the five senses, medieval style, was restored.

Under the ramparts and fortified gates, also historical monument, the Gallic fountain and the fountain of Caesar fortified cave fountain, still stand proudly. In the old center, it is possible to admire an old guardhouse of the fourteenth century, or the statue of a beautiful goddess Chasséen.

Always historical monument, do not miss the monolith cross the seventeenth century. The Church of St. John the Baptist, the eighteenth century, not missing more interest.

A marked hiking trail and informative nine kilometers whose path is proposed to the Tourist Office, you can browse all exceptional heritage.

Events and festivities

A market takes place in July and August on Wednesdays. Night markets in particular exhibiting local crafts are also offered at this time of year.

street festival, The Other Festival offers its original and entertaining shows in the month of May.

In November, the site walks lit with wandering in the village and a hot meal.
