Calès is a pretty village located on the Causse de Gramat, the widest and wildest of the four causses of Quercy. Exposed to an altered oceanic climate, it is drained by the Ouysse and by another watercourse. Included in the Dordogne basin, the town has a remarkable natural heritage: a Natura 2000 site (the "Ouysse and Alzou valleys"), two protected areas (the "Lot cliffs (birds of prey)" and the "causses du Quercy geopark") and six natural areas of ecological, faunal and floristic interest.
