Castle Museum Grimaldi

Leisure centre in Cagnes-sur-Mer

Located in Cagnes-sur-Mer, in the Alpes-Maritimes, the Grimaldi Castle Museum is housed in a 14th-century fortified castle classified as a Historical Monument. On its different floors, it reveals collections of modern art and ethnography, including on the ground floor a wall book telling the history of the city, the Grimaldi and the citadel.

Inside the site, it is also possible to discover the painted ceiling of the hall that traces the fall of Phaeton.

In the museum of modern art, several great contemporary artists are represented like Jean Cocteau, Tamara de Lempicka, or Raoul Dufy. The site organizes each year an international painting festival with different thematic temporary exhibitions. The donation Solidor allows to discover about forty portraits of the cabaret singer by the greatest artists of his time.

On the spot, one can appreciate the ethnographic museum of the olive tree on the history, the culture and the manufacture of the oil.
