This former fishing village has become the early 1970s a popular and lively resort, thanks to its beach, Cros-de-Cagnes. Today, the city perfectly blends tradition and modernity, through its medieval town, many monuments and other nautical and cultural activities.

First prize of the Contest of City Entrances, Cagnes-sur-Mer offers an exceptional nature and layout shot on the green and aesthetics. It is not for nothing that many painters chose their time in the city for welcoming land. Its brightness, its atmosphere and its undeniable charm has always attracted artists from around the world. The French Riviera has found one of its most iconic jewels with Cagnes-sur-Mer and pretty hills.

Things to see and do

City to the glorious past, Cagnes-sur-Mer has many monuments to the cultural heritage of the general inventory and an architecture that attracts tourists from around the world.

Museum since 1946, the museum Grimaldi castle imposes its architecture including his fresco of the Fall of Phaeton, but also by its many collections. The castle is home to an ethnographic museum of the olive tree, portraits of the singer Suzy Solidor by the great names of painting, as well as a Mediterranean modern art museum. In summer, the castle organizes exhibitions at the International Festival of painting.

Former home of the famous French painter Renoir Renoir domain housed the family until 1919. It has now been turned into a museum, with the artist's studio, and collections of his pearly period of his sculptures and his lithographs.

Built in the early 1950s, the racecourse hosts the French Riviera still high level races. It is now one of the most important racetracks in France where the biggest horse race meet.

The religious heritage Cagnes-sur-Mer is also of great importance, and it is particularly possible to visit the Church of St. Peter and St. Paul of the thirteenth century, the Notre-Dame-de-protection of the sixteenth century, or the remains of the Chapel of St. Anne, the fourteenth century.

Cagnes-sur-Mer owns several private beaches with many activities, with bar terraces, sun or various sports and cultural activities. Not far away, the casino of the city offers various entertainments.

Cagnes-sur-Mer is an exciting seaside resort where cultural and sporting events do not end during the year. Gastronomy, painting, music... everything is possible on the French Riviera!

The Sundays of Cagnes-sur-Mer are entirely dedicated to children and their parents. In March, April and May, free activities are offered, while the seaside is pedestrianized.

In mid-July, Promenade en Fête sees the installation of musical scenes in Cagnes-sur-Mer. To celebrate the national holiday, the city is adorned with its most beautiful attractions before ending its day with a pyrotechnic and nautical show.

From the end of June to the end of September, the Château de Cagnes-sur-Mer hosts the Jazz Festival at the Château.

At the beginning of July, the feast of the Saint Peter of the Sea animates the streets. Numerous festivities, such as water-skiing, diving, or sea trips are organized.

In August, the French Riviera Country Music Festival takes place and brings a vibrant atmosphere. Concerts, initiations to country dance or meals are organized for two days.

The Gastronomy Festival opens in September, enabling visiting visitors to discover culinary demonstrations and entertainment, and to enjoy gourmet meals in the various restaurants of the city.

The Autumn Fair takes its penatoes downtown in October, offering different stalls and rides. At the end of the month, the theatrical meetings of Autumn are the occasion to attend exceptional pieces.

Sports enthusiasts will enjoy the Nice-Cannes marathon to keep fit and run on the beach promenade in November, while the others will be tempted by the Chestnut festival. On this occasion, a market of the soil and animations settles downtown.
