The town of Cadillac-sur-Garonne is located in the heart of Entre-deux-Mers, in Gironde, about thirty kilometers south of Bordeaux. It is also an hour's drive from the beaches of the Atlantic coast and the famous Arcachon basin.
The capital of the canton, Cadillac-sur-Garonne benefits from an ideal location in the center of an internationally renowned wine region thanks to the Cadillac AOC label.
This bastide town founded in 1280 by Jean de Grailly, representative of the King of England, still retains its medieval structure today, which can be discovered by taking the interpretation trail.
At the beginning of the 17th century, the Duke of Épernon, favorite of Henry III, chose Cadillac as his place of residence and burial and had a castle built there. Many constructions followed such as La Closière or the Cadillac church.
Wine tourism is the main attraction of the town. There are several wine châteaux and a wine house.
You can also stop at the port of Cadillac on the Garonne, where you can see pleasure boats, passenger boats and even cruise ships.
Cadillac-sur-Garonne offers a pleasant living environment between nature and historical heritage.
Set off to discover the vineyard thanks to the numerous hiking trails departing from the town. Cadillac winegrowers will be delighted to show off their estate and their wines. We can notably cite the castles Chasse-Pierre, Fayau... You can also taste local specialties such as Garonne saffron produced in Béguey or even Mascaret, a craft beer produced in Rions, two neighboring towns.
Cadillac-sur-Garonne also has various restaurants highlighting the region's specialties: ideal for stopping for lunch on the terrace.
Among the essential sites to visit, we find the Château de Cadillac, the Maison des Vins (La Closière), the Saint-Blaise-Saint-Martin church founded in 1494, or the Cemetery of the Forgotten, site listed as a Historic Monument. Nature enthusiasts can indulge in hiking or cycling with family or friends, with different circuits offered at the Tourist Office.
You can also admire the Garonne, observe the fauna and flora that make it up, as well as the tidal bore at certain times of the year, an impressive phenomenon characteristic of this river. Indeed, the flow of ocean tides is sensitive more than a hundred kilometers inland, creating transverse ripples. The tidal bore is nowadays very sought after by surfers.
The traditional Cadillac market is held every Saturday morning. This market, colorful and very lively, perpetuates a tradition dating back more than 8 centuries. More than a hundred traders offer their products there, including the presence of organic producers on a main street. There are also products from the Garonne basin, as well as handicrafts.
On May 1st, the festival brings life to the Bastide town: funfair, entertainment, collector's vehicles, etc.
During the Pentecost weekend, the Maison des Vins opens its doors, as well than all the châteaux of the Côtes de Bordeaux: it's time to discover the region's vineyards and take part in the many activities.
Cadillac-sur-Garonne offers Country Producers markets in June, July and August. It is an opportunity for visitors to meet directly with farm and artisan producers for direct sales, all in a friendly and festive musical atmosphere, with the possibility of on-site catering.
The music festival in June is an opportunity for residents and visitors to enjoy a festive atmosphere around music, with stage spaces set up in the bastide.
On the occasion of the national holiday, a Producers' Market is set up on the aisles. Accompanied by a musical group, it is the opportunity to dine with music before enjoying the fireworks.
The “Les Baladins à Cadillac” festival enlivens the bastide on the last Sunday of July and August and showcases the bastide through the performing arts: theater, circus and music.
In September, heritage is highlighted as part of the European Heritage Days: visits to the church tower are offered, and other emblematic places.
There are many Cadillac associations: each year, they come together at the Forum of Associations to present their activity, during a fast-paced day in a good atmosphere.
The Night Watch, an amateur theatrical show, is an event awaited by the inhabitants: during the evening, numerous theatrical scenes are wandering around the city, all concluded with a final bouquet in the gardens of the castle.
In December, the Cadillac Christmas market is the unmissable event for young and old.

Rions (4 km), is a remarkable fortified town, dominating the Garonne. An interpretation trail allows visitors to discover its defensive belt, its fortified gate and its Saint-Seurin church. There is also a booklet of discovery for children aged 6 to 12 years "On the Trails of Robin" (issued free by the Office of Tourism).
Langoiran (11 km), has a fortress built by the Escoussans during the 13th century. Its enclosures stand on the hillside, dominated by a mighty dungeon. In season, musical evenings and historical re-enactments are organized.
Sainte-Croix-du-Mont (7 km), is known for its caves of fossil oysters, accumulated at the bottom of the seas in the tertiary era. Erosion has grown in the thickness of the bench and the caves are now accessible. A magnificent panorama is offered on the Garonne valley from the terrace of the castle of Tastes.
Loupiac, (2 km), has a Gallo-Roman villa. Its thermal baths with mosaics, make it a must visit. Archeological workshops for children by appointment, wine tasting of the owner at the end of the visit. The medieval fortress of Cros stands on the slopes of Loupiac. It is accessible via a botanical interpretation trail from the vineyard of the same name, below. In Laroque-Omet (4 km), the Laromet lake is closed to swimming but open to fishing. "Lac aux branches", tree-climbing course accessible from 4 years old are located on the shores of the lake in a protected area.
Between Paillet and Lestiac (5 km) is formed Raymond Island, the last alluvial wetland of the Gironde. Its 44 hectares have a role of wintering, migratory transit, feeding and reproduction of birds. It also serves as pasture for a herd of sheep of race Blanck Face. Two circuits of hiking, belvederes allow to discover this island.
A Le Tourne (11 km), the Chantiers Tramasset, is an emblematic site of river activity. The association restores, rebuilds wooden boats. Possibility of making a guided visit by appointment.
