Buire was the largest railway junction of France, outside Paris. The village developed around Hirson-Buire station. It consisted of a railway town and village composed mostly of farmers.

The city consisted exclusively of people working in the field of rail. Chef and Sous Chef station employees to repair roads and beautiful steam engines. They had access to a library and a typical wooden chapel was inaugurated January 20, 1927, wood so as most of the buildings that can still be seen at present.

Now we can see on the site the Rotunda, where in 1929, 3000 cars were operated every day, the warehouse maintenance and Florentine tower, built in 1920, 50 meters high, inspired belfries North, concrete armed with a brick Art Deco décor, a vestige of that time so beloved by locals. The site was bombed during the last war 39-45 in the March 6, 1944... and virtually every month until 26 December 1944.

The city is reached and 66 units are affected but many houses remained standing, or must be razed or restored.

Then came the time of reconstruction, despite a heavy toll... You can get a very interesting book by Marcel Birch recounting "The Rail Hirson" that chronicles your life around this important station... Hirson- Buire... by calling City Hall where all the information will be provided.

It was magical to hear the steam locomotive dragging a multitude of cars heading to the capital, Belgium, north and east of France... Romantic tell you... that bygone era because... Electricity has changed everything! But happiness is still in place in this village because when there lived along the golden age of SNCF, is simply trying to return...

This village now consists of a world quite different from workers in all areas. All the people who live in this pretty floral village near the Belgian border are happy to live there. This is a common example in terms of respect for nature. Planting shrubs, bulbs, perennials, flowering meadows contribute to the coming of a well established fauna, proving full respect of the environment. Paths and walkways invite people of all ages to leave their homes and find themselves for secure rides.

This town of about 900 people is highly sought after for its quality of life, its calm and its municipality whose mayor, Mr Demeaux, is an example of uprightness and honesty, always listening to its citizens and struggling lot for his village. Many associations provide more each in its residents and the sports complex area is very visited... indeed you can practice archery, football, table tennis, jogging, miniature golf, walking, associations welcome you to parts of scrabble, playing cards, manila, needlework... The library invites you to read and computers. Both are popular annual festivals and flea markets.

The town participates in the annual contest of Cities and flowered Villages organized by the Picardy Region and the Department of Aisne.

The development of a business park allows citizens to get the amenities close to home, several craft and commercial enterprises combining facilities while there landscaped areas... which is not negligible.

A superb roundabout has been put in place Place Clichy, to secure the heart of the city close to schools, well visited place of children and passersby. We can now travel safely while discovering three elements that recall the rail, a bumper, a level crossing gate, a locomotive axle... Superb place lit from nightfall by lighting underfloor, all in lush greenery and flowers.

The Hirson-Buire entry was fitted with a beautification and landscape plantings hedge, a furnished and lighted walkway providing security for citizens.
