The Priory Allichamps is the last evidence of an important station on the voice of Roman Avaricum in Neris-les Bains. It was an important Roman necropolis. Allichamps then a village of which we know neither the extent nor available from the church.

Inspired by Roman art, it is distinguished by its capitals and intricately carved corbels. Reasons surprised by the variety in the choice of subjects and reveal patterns of various origins, sometimes inspired by the Bourbonnais, sometimes of the Vendee or the Saintonge.

As its name suggests, Aalis Campis (Aalis fields, Germanic deity), Elisli Campi (in 1193) then Alischans from the 13th century, Allichamps retained a remarkable place as burial site. Gravestones there were still registered and Graves buried.
