Located in the heart of Briançon, in the Hautes-Alpes, the Récollets convent sits on the banks of rue du Pont d'Asfeld and is the most important religious monument in the city. Built in the eighteenth century by the congregation of monks Récollets, the site was rebuilt in 1729 and served as a warehouse after the departure of religious following the throes of the French Revolution. The Récollets convent then served as a military hospital.
The building is made entirely of masonry rubble covered with an ocher coating. Stones in pink and white limestone have also been used for basements, corner chains or berry frames. The north facade is the only one to remain intact, and its decorated door corresponds to the internal structure of the chapel.
