Tourism, holidays & weekends guide in the Calvados

Calvados village in the Normandy region, Bréville-les-Monts is located about fifteen kilometers from Caen, the gateway to the Pays d'Auge. It takes place not far from Ouistreham, Cabourg or Merville-Franceville Beach.

Populated since the Gallo-Roman era, as evidenced by the many remains of habitat found on the spot in the late 1980s, the town of Bréville-les-Monts was mainly illustrated in history during the landing of the Allied forces in the night June 5th to 6th, 1944. British parachutists were airborne there to join the troops supposed to seize the bridge of Bénouville. The village suffered heavily from this episode and was largely destroyed at this time.

Bréville-les-Monts does, however, have some interesting sights to discover. The town is also ideally located to discover the most beautiful cities of Normandy.

Things to see and do

Listed as Historical Monuments, the ruins of the former Saint-Pierre church once had a beautiful fifteenth-century choir. They still present today a Virgin and Child of the late seventeenth century. A new church was built nearby in the early 1960s.

While strolling in the village and its surroundings, you will also be able to appreciate the manoir of Saint-Côme of XVIe century, the castle of Amphernet built at the beginning of the XIXe century, or the wash-house of the Bas de Bréville.

Nearby hiking trails allow you to enjoy the local flora and fauna and discover unique landscapes.
