Municipality of Calvados, in the Normandy region, Bretteville-sur-Odon takes place at the gates of the ducal city of Caen, on the edge of Bessin. It is located in the heart of the Caen plain, not far from Villers-Bocage, Louvigny or Saint-Germain-la-Blanche-Herbe.
Dependency of the abbey of Mont-Saint-Michel from the 11th century to the Revolution, the commune of Bretteville-sur-Odon was originally the property of the wife of Richard I, Duke of Normandy, great-grandmother of the famous William the Conqueror.
Very dynamic, the one which today hosts the Festyland amusement park, benefits from the attractiveness of its neighbor, Caen, as much as from the richness of its architectural and cultural heritage which testifies to a glorious and rich past.
