Rural village of Haut Bugey, Ain, Brénod takes place 850 meters above sea level, south of the Jura mountains. The village of more than 550 inhabitants is located about fifty kilometers from Bourg-en-Bresse, near Hauteville-Lompnes, and Aranc.
Originally Gaulish village, Brénod presents first traces of habitation from the fifth century. It really develops in the twelfth century with the arrival of Chartreux who came to found the Abbey of Meyriat. Affected by a deep rural exile in the second half of the nineteenth century, the village also suffered from the Second World War which left traces.
The commune of Brénod does not have less than an interesting historical inheritance, as well as a unique and totally preserved natural frame for holidays in peace and in the open air.
