Tourism, holidays & weekends guide in the Manche

A commune of nearly 3,200 inhabitants, Bréhal is located in Normandy, in the department of Manche. Seaside resort, it takes place ten kilometers from Granville and twenty kilometers from Coutances, on the shores of the Channel Sea. Bréhal consists of two agglomerations, the village of Bréhal, and the beach of Saint-Martin-de-Bréhal which extends for nearly three kilometers.

Cité populated since the Middle Ages, Bréhal grew in the 19th century with the new fashion of sea bathing. At the beginning of the 20th century, the construction of a road to the beaches of the Channel allowed this development, as well as The construction of bourgeois houses in the city center.

Today, Bréhal is best known for its beaches, as well as for the practice of water sports like windsurfing or kitesurfing. Turning towards nature, the town nevertheless has an interesting architectural heritage.

Things to see and do

The Saint-Martin-de-Bréhal is the main tourist attraction of the commune of Bréhal. For three kilometers, it allows the practice of water sports, the site including a sailing school.

It is possible to admire the ruins of the Saint-Martin-le-Vieux church, dating from the 11th and 12th centuries. Inscribed in the Historic Monuments, the building has the peculiarity of owning a bell tower, a rare architectural element in the region. More recently, the church of Notre-Dame is also worth a visit.

Walking through the town or its surroundings, you can enjoy the Hollerie castle, or the Halle, built in the second half of the 19th century. Formerly used for the sale of animals and cereals, it now serves as an exhibition hall and tourist office. Currently in restoration, the mill tower of the Hutrel is a must of the municipality.

Several signposted hikes are accessible in and around Bréhal, especially towards the haven of La Vanlée, bound for Bricqueville-sur-Mer.

The town also has a popular golf course that offers a beautiful view of the surroundings. The Mielles racecourse also allows you to attend horse races in season.
