Former residence of the Sauveterre family, the castle of Bonson, in the Loire was erected at the beginning of the 17th Century. Initially an agricultural estate, it then became a hunting ground, then a pleasure property at the beginning of the 19th century.
The castle of Bonson is best known for its orangery with twenty-four rounded bays and its park with rare species created in the 19th century. The ensemble surrounds the old medieval village church. The latter from the 11th, 15th and 16th centuries has been included in the supplementary inventory of Historic Monuments.
