Former seat of châtellenie in the 13th century, the castle of Bonneville was then the property of the lords of Faucigny. Now listed as a Historic Monument, it takes place on the right bank of the Arve, once serving to control the confluence with the Borne.
Of regular plan, the castle of Bonneville is the very type of the castle known as "Savoyard square". The set is in the form of a quadrangular enclosure flanked by round towers with pepperboxes at each of its corners (there are only two left, 21 and 15 meters high).
Only the two towers, the curtain wall and the square courtyard are open to public visits during the summer season.
