- Located in the Hauts-de-Seine (92), in the northern loop of the Seine, Bois-Colombes, 9 km from Paris Notre-Dame, enjoys an enviable geographical position because it is ideally located near La Défense, The Roissy-Charles-de-Gaulle airport and major major axes (peripheral, riverbank and A86).
- History:
- 1896: Pleasant, calm, healthful and conveniently connected to Paris, the conurbation rapidly becomes an important village inhabited by artists, scholars, traders and employees. On the day of its independence, it is endowed with a station, a church, a school (Paul-Bert), the biggest market of the surroundings and (already) of the Philotechnique association!
- 1935: It was on this date, from 1935 to 1937, that the city hall (the architectural symbol of the city) was built on the plans of MM. Bovet (Grand Prix of Rome) and Berthelot, architects of the government. Another representative building in the city: the windmill of the Hispano-Suiza factory of Bois-Colombes was built in 1937. It is 55 m long by 16 m wide: "The world's largest private wind tunnel", writes the magazine The Illustration (November 1938).
- 1950-1970: this is the period of the great improvements of the municipality.
- 1999: The departure of Hispano-Suiza, in 1999, marks the end of the industrial period of Bois-Colombes
- On September 17, 2005, the inauguration of the "La Cigogne" school in the old wind tunnel of Hispano-Suiza, a 20th century heritage building, marks a new stage in the renaissance of this neighborhood characterized by the Diversity of activities, inhabitants and businesses.
- June 21, 2006: the city celebrates music and inaugurates the "park of the Bruyères". By this ambitious project of reconversion of the polluted industrial wasteland where the Hispano-Suiza factories were located in a sustainable district "Les Bruyères", Bois-Colombes became the winner of the first departmental sustainable development competition.
- September 8, 2007: The inauguration of Place Jean-Mermoz is the starting point of a period of rehabilitation of the northern district of the commune.
