Bocognano

Corsican resort, Bocognano, has a rich and fascinating heritage that captivates visitors.

Old Romanesque chapel, the Saint Lucia church was built by the Genoese and restored during the nineteenth century. We can admire an off tower built before the church, and a beautiful painting of Saint Lucia from the late seventeenth century. The latter has also been classified as an historic monument as an object.

The Funtanone size is a monumental fountain installed in the town square and made of cut stone columns with a filling of stones. This one dates from the late nineteenth century.

The Regional Park of Corsica Natural, whose common Bocognano part, is the scene of many marked hiking trails and home to flora and fauna of the richest. On this territory, one can also enjoy circuses and glacial lakes of Monte Renoso, or the peaks and high slopes of Monte Renoso.

Bocognano houses several beech forests that assess large tracts of trees, ideal for long walks.

The Festimonti, Mountain festival, held annually the last weekend in September or the first weekend of October. This event aims to promote and enhance the Gravona Valley.

Every first weekend of December, the fair of chestnuts, or Fiera di a Castagna, takes place Bocognano. This is the oldest and most famous agricultural fairs throughout Corsica. On the occasion, more than 150 exhibitors are moving and visitors can enjoy many culinary products made from chestnut and a beautiful craftsmanship.
