Small village of Yonne, in the heart of the Puisaye, Bléneau takes place between Auxerre and Briare, on the banks of the Loing. The town is located about fifteen kilometers from Saint-Fargeau, not far from the 7 locks of Rogny.
Cited since the sixth century, the town suffered the full brunt of the horrors of the Hundred Years War, then the civil war between Armagnacs and Burgundians. In 1652, Bléneau also serves as theater for a famous battle of the Fronde seeing the royal army of Turenne oppose that of Louis II of Bourbon then prince of Condé. But it is in the twentieth century that the town is illustrated through Gaston Fleischel who developed the first automatic transmission on cars in the early 1930s.
Always full of charm, the town of Bléneau attracts visitors with its architectural heritage and quietness.
