Founded in the mid-19th century, the Pau Golf Club of Billère, in the Pyrénées-Atlantiques, is the oldest golf club in all of continental Europe, as well as the first open course outside of Scotland. A private club open to members, their guests and passing players, the site also has a clubhouse with a museum devoted to the history of the club and golf in Béarn. The Pau Golf Club indeed has its origins as Scottish officers in Wellington's army seeking a suitable place to practice golf under the Restoration.
On site, golfers can now enjoy an 18-hole par 69 course designed by Willi Dunn. Flat with small greens, it was embellished with another 9-hole course for women in 1877.
Numerous competitions are organized throughout the year on site, like the France- meeting. Spain Boys, the Ladies Cup or the Grand-Prix de Pau.
