Located in the heart of the citadel of Besançon, in the Doubs, the natural history museum of Besançon also offers its visitors access to an interesting zoological park. Created in 1943 at the initiative of the then mayor, Jean Minjoz, it unveils a large selection of naturalized collections, with different varieties of animal species illustrating the biodiversity of all continents.
During their stroll through the six spaces (zoological garden, P'tite ferme, insectarium, aquarium, noctarium and evolutionary route), visitors can admire mammals, birds, amphibians, insects and fish.
The zoological garden of the natural history museum of Besançon presents to visitors more than 500 animals from some sixty species. Adults and children will enjoy discovering marmosets, lemurs, tigers, mongooses and cockatoos. Dwarf goats, guinea pigs, rabbits and chickens are also visible in the P'tite ferme.
Temporary thematic exhibitions are regularly organized there to learn more and more about the animal world.
