Castle of Calamès

Monument in Bédeilhac-et-Aynat

Old medieval castle located Bédeilhac-et-Aynat, in Ariege, Castle Calamès today is a site in ruins. It takes place at the top of the rock Calamès, to over 1000 meters. He still has two stone walls, only remnants of its former splendor.

Mentioned in the thirteenth century, the building originally belonged to Foix County before being abandoned in the fourteenth century. Accessible on foot via a path a bit steep, Castle Calamès can admire his way caves and cliffs of very popular around climbers.
