Attractive village with granite houses, Bécherel is the Book capital today, as illustrated by the numerous bookshops lining the streets of the village and the frequent festivities related to the world of books.

The Book festival at Easter; the Book night on the second Saturday of August; Lire en Fête in October; the Book market on the first Sunday of every month, are the many events animating the village.

Additional information
Bécherel

Small City of Character in Britain.

The Gallic "beak" pointing to something sharp and Breton "Erel" meaning summit. Etymological origins of these, we can guess the interest represented Bécherel for the lords who succeeded in this ancient fortress.

City overlooking the upper valley of the Rance, the former stronghold for military purposes retains traces of a turbulent past. Flax and hemp have made the fortune of Bécherel the 16th to the 17th century.

Today this ancient urban center well preserved architectural heritage has become the first City Paper © France.

Fifteen libraries and other artists associated with the book business now give life throughout the year, this third book © City in Europe.
