If you are visiting Oise's capital, be sure to visit the MUDO, an art museum near the cathedral, in the former bishops' palace. A listed Historic Monument, this magnificent building, formerly home to the Bishop-Counts of Beauvais, includes a 14th-century gatehouse, adorned with a mural depicting mermaid musicians, connected by a wing to the Renaissance palace built in the early 16th century.

Reopened in 2015 after major renovations, the MUDO presents collections ranging from the 1st century A.D. to the contemporary era, including a group of medieval sculptures from Picardy, Italian Baroque paintings, ceramics by Jules-Claude Ziegler, works by the painter Thomas Couture, who was born in Senlis, and also paintings by Sisley, Corot and Huet... a total of around 30,000 objects are listed there!

Be sure to take a look at the attic and the magnificent wooden roof standing 14 metres high.

Good to know: admission to the museum is free, and there are temporary exhibitions, themed guided tours, conferences and family tours for the public to enjoy.
