Commune of Eure, in Normandy, Beaumont-le-Roger takes place not far from Grosley-sur-Risle, Serguigny or Évreux.
Originally owned by the Dukes of Normandy, it became the possession of Notre-Dame de Bernay Abbey following the donation from Judith of Brittany, wife of Richard II of Normandy. Royal domain until the beginning of the 14th century, the commune of Beaumont-le-Roger passed into different hands over the centuries. Looted by Henry V of England in the 15th century, it had to wait until the Revolution to experience prosperity again. An important rural communal center at the end of the 19th century, notably thanks to its markets and annual fairs, it was the scene of a large spinning and drapery industry.
Partly destroyed during the Second World War, the city of Beaumont-le-Roger has nevertheless preserved an important architectural and historical heritage.
