Small village of Bas-Rhin, in Alsace, Bassemberg takes place at the gates of Villé, at an altitude of 280 m. It is located at the foot of the Honel hillside, not far from Saint-Martin or Breitenau, about fifty kilometers from Strasbourg and its magnificent tourist sites.
Built in the Middle Ages on the old road leading from Villé to Saint-Dié, the commune of Bassemberg then mainly developed around its mill, its bridge and its forest. Strongly affected by the various wars that ravaged the region, such as the Rustauds' war or the Swedish war, it was able to rebuild itself to take on the pleasant face that we know today.
