Bassac is a town in south-western France, located in the department of Charente (Poitou-Charentes).
Its inhabitants are called Bassacois and Bassacoises.
Bassac is located 6 km east of Jarnac and 20 km west of Angouleme in the Charente Valley.
The town is served by the D22, Jarnac road Villebois-Lavalette by Châteauneuf along the Charente on its right bank, and D18, and Échallat of Merignac Saint-Même and Segonzac, north-south, which also passes town and crosses the Charente.
National Highway 141 from Angoulême to Saintes passes 3 km north of the town.
Bassac is 8 km from Chateauneuf, 3.5 km from Saint-Same.
The nearest train station is in Jarnac, served by TER to Angouleme, Cognac, Saintes and Royan.
Hamlets and localities: The village of Bassac is big enough. The town has only two major settlements: Ankle, in the north of the town, and Bassigeau near the road Jarnac Châteauneuf southeast.
