City of Savoie, in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, Barberaz takes place at the gates of Chambéry, on the foothills of the Chartreuse massif and on the gap of the Marches. It is located on the banks of the Leysse, near Saint-Baldoph, Cognin, La Ravoire and Challes-les-Eaux.
Founded in the 3rd century, the municipality of Barberaz takes its name from its creators, barbarians from outside the Roman Empire at the time. Long focused on agriculture and breeding, it has also become a place of production and processing of Bois de Chartreuse, the first AOC of the wood industry in France.
Despite a typical mountain architecture, the Savoyard city is mainly appreciated for the beauty of its authentic landscapes and for its surrounding hiking trails.
