Blavet Gorge is a small wooded canyon through which flows a stream, lined with red walls 80 meters high, curious and grandiose landscape at once, reminding Corsica.
The immense panorama encompasses the mountains of Esterel, the Rock of Roquebrune and Moors, the coast of Frejus / St Raphael at the bottom with the Big Blue. Remarkably, the Esterel is also through the precious relics it contains:
Mueron cave inhabited by man from the Palaeolithic. Ligurian traces of camps in the Colle du Rouet and Bonnet du Capelan. Roman aqueduct of Fréjus in Reyran Valley.
L'Esterel Western, rises in the Massif du Rouet 561 meters at the Pic du Castel Diaou ("Castle of God" or "Devil's Castle" up to you!). It is the second highest peak after Mount Vinegar, which rises to 614 meters. With its hidden cliffs, paths of all levels (300 equipped routes level 3a to 8b), the Esterel offers for nearly 30 years an alternative to all climbers touring the south of France.
The rhyolite, eruptive rock which supports the passion of these climbers, providing different sensations from those obtained on neighboring limestone cliffs. Climbing here is mainly characterized by a more athletic style.
