Small rural village located 7 km from Ales, 45 km from Nîmes and 65 km from Montpellier; Bagard currently exceeds 2400 inhabitants.

Along the great fault of the Cevennes, the limestone massifs are located in the hills northwest of the town, the undulating plain of southern part of basin collapse of Ales.

The village was built on the grounds of a castle belonging to the Templars of Ales and to protect the road to Ales Anduze.

Things to see and do

The Romanesque church of the 12th century, probably the former castle chapel. Burned in 1702 by Camisards, it has been restored since.

The fountain-washhouse centenary.

L'Hospitalet: dating back to the Templars of Ales and became a commander of the Hospitaller Order of St. John of Jerusalem (later Order of Malta).

The Monac: former property of the Templars in the 13th century leper hospital and convent in the 18th century, before becoming a farm.

The tower where Camisards Billot gave battle in 1703 the king's troops.

The temple built in 1859.
