At the heart of the Minervois, between Cevennes in the north and Canal du Midi in the South, Azille, built on a rocky outcrop, stands proudly above the famous vineyard wines.

In the old moat around its walls, a magnificent avenue of ancient plane trees encircling the town and provides a cooling shade during the hot hours of the day.

Things to see and do

Its 14th century church of Southern Gothic and whose bell tower is remarkable for its elevation, home in one of its chapels a beautiful Madonna and Child in polychrome stone the same time. Castle Jouarres: one of the last 19th century cellars with monumental wooden casks from 1896.

The last Sunday in April: Flowers Festival with competitions for children, participation of students, flower sales, the launch of the competition flowered houses, craft fair, exhibition of paintings in the vaults of Azille Home (information point), animation throughout the day. Around May 1: Feria! With Band'Azillane, Abrivado the Herd with Camargue horses, horse show and parade. Flamenco beccerade, concerts.
