Things to see and do

Nestled in the heart of the forest, Sainte-Marie du Rivet abbey is a former Cistercian abbey now listed as an historic monument. Built probably in the Carolingian era, it takes place on a former Benedictine monastery. Partly burned by Protestants during the wars of religion at the end of the 16th century, she saw the creation of a miraculous cave, like that of Lourdes, at the end of the 19th century. The abbey is today occupied by Cistercian nuns of Blagnac.

Built in the thirteenth century, the Notre-Dame church was largely reworked in the second half of the nineteenth century in neo-Gothic style. However, it has preserved its walls drains the original church. In the former chapel of the 13th and 15th centuries, the former barons of Auros were buried and the site houses stalls of the former Abbey of Rivet.

Former parish church of the eleventh century, the Saint-Germain church was destroyed in the second half of the sixteenth century by Calvinists. It has been fully restored in the 19th century.

Property of the Regional Conservatory of Natural Spaces of Aquitaine, the botanical trail of Monco can discover no less than nineteen different species of natural orchids and walk a pleasant walk in nature.
