Located inside the Saint-Etienne castle, at Aurillac, the Volcanoes Museum is dedicated to the history of volcanoes and to the many mysteries of the Earth. Thanks to a playful and modern museography, the site presents through four rooms the functioning of the Earth and volcanism with in particular collections of rocks, minerals, fossilized plants and even stuffed animals.
Models, films and other interactive terminals enlighten the visitor on the history of Auvergne and the volcanoes of Aurillac. In addition, there are regular thematic temporary exhibitions, a library as well as spaces for courses and practical work.
