Things to see and do

Of Romanesque origin, the Saint-Sixte church takes place in the town of Aunac. Formerly a dependency of the city of Angoulême, it was partly destroyed during the wars of religion before being reborn from its ashes at the end of the 17th century.

Formerly the chapel of the castle of Bayers, the Notre-Dame church reveals an elegant Gothic style. Become a parish church at the beginning of the 18th century, it has undergone several restoration campaigns since then.

Listed as a Historic Monument, the Pierre Folle dolmen at Chenommet is a building dating from the Neolithic period. Covered with a burial mound, it is the subject of a joke that says the monument shakes every time the local church bell rings. The latter, dedicated to Saint Peter, unveils a 14th century stone holy water font listed as a Historic Monument and which represents in particular the martyrdom of Saint John the Baptist, and that of Saint Peter or Saint Andrew.

On the side of the former commune of Chenommet, you will also find various activities such as the Polem's Club equestrian center, a fishing instructor and guide as well as the flying club Les Ailes du Ruffécois.
