At the heart of the department of Charente-Maritime, hides the charming little town of Aulnay. About twenty kilometers from Saint Jean d'Angely, and forty Niort and Cognac, the town sits on one of the paths of pilgrimages to Saint Jacques de Compostela, the Via Turonensis.
Rich in natural heritage, including through the presence of a forest, the city owes its name to Aulnay alders who occupy it. Old Gallo-Roman station, the town today still has important historical and architectural remains.
Full of life despite its modest size, the common Aulnay seduces with its tranquil atmosphere and its many amenities. The surrounding nature allows the practice of many outdoor sports, and alder forest offer beautiful shelter for a quiet nap or a picnic with family.
