Originally built in the 12th century, in the town of Augerville-la-Rivière, in the Loiret, the castle of Augerville is now listed as a Historic Monument. In ruins in the 15th century for lack of maintenance and following numerous successive looting, the building then became the property of Jacques Coeur, the king's treasurer, who in the 16th century experienced a major renovation campaign.
Passed from hand to hand over the centuries, the Château d'Augerville now houses a luxury hotel with golf course.
