Memento, a departmental space for contemporary art, is a place for research and exhibitions dedicated to dissemination, awareness, research, experimentation and support for contemporary creation.
Housed in the former Carmelite convent, refurbished in 1949 to house the departmental archives, it was then closed.
It was in 2016 that Memento moved in, thus becoming a veritable creative laboratory based on the very idea of exhibiting between a place not dedicated to art and works.
The production of new works: exhibitions, films, concerts, conferences, symposiums, artist residencies, mediations, territorial interventions are all means of supporting artists and raising public awareness of contemporary art.
The year takes place in two stages, with a seasonal opening (in May-June depending on the year):
During the winter period, Memento welcomes artists in residence to prepare for its new edition. At the same time, it carries out artistic and cultural education projects in the Gers area with schools and various partners.
During the summer period, artists (regional, national, etc.) are invited to produce new works and exhibitions, echoing the architecture and the spirit of the place.
Free visit. Group visits possible in the morning on opening days (except Saturday and Sunday), by reservation.
