Aubenas-les-Alpes

Despite its modest size, the small village of Aubenas-les-Alpes is not less rich and exciting attractions. In the middle of the lavender fields stand a large number of ancient monuments that bear witness to the glorious past of the town.

We can admire the castle of the city of feudal basis, which was modified between the sixteenth and seventeenth century. If it is not open, it can be admired from the outside, and it is worth a look.

The village hall is located in the former rectory of Aubenas-les-Alpes and reveals a beautiful fireplace plasterwork of the eighteenth century.

Last vestige of the medieval village, the church of the Assumption of the Virgin is partly Romanesque. Rebuilt in some places in the seventeenth century, it still has a bell gable dating from the Middle Ages. Inside, murals of the early eighteenth century were being honored.

Throughout the territory of the town, one can still find some of the nineteenth century remains of mills, or dovecote tower-shaped.

Some Renaissance houses eventually bring charm to the whole of this Provencal village.

Various marked hiking trails run through the town and its surroundings, to discover the local fauna and flora.
