Small village of the Ariege, in Occitan region Aston takes place about thirty kilometers from Foix, in the heart of the Pyrenees. It is located on the banks of the Aston and Quiol on the border of the Principality of Andorra, near the Plateau de Beille and Fontargente collar.

At the heart of a green country, the village was originally a rural town known for its grazing and farming activities, and until the industrialization of the region. Now facing outward, and in particular neighboring Spanish Aston attracts many visitors each year because of the beauty of its landscapes and the authenticity of its natural heritage.

Between hiking and downhill skiing in the nearby resort, this town in the south of France does not lack attraction for sportsmen and outdoor enthusiasts life.

Things to see and do

As you wander the village, you can admire the traditional architecture of the houses nearby, or visit the famous St. Peter's Church for his paintings of Nicolas Greschny.

But it was mainly for his qu'Aston natural heritage is appreciated by visitors. Difficult to resist the charm of the pond Larnoum installed at nearly 1,800 meters above sea level. It covers more than two hectares and is known for its attendance by brown trout or cristivomers.

Several shelters are present in the territory of Aston to allow trekking over several days safely. Be sure to visit the peak Serrère 2912 meters, the highest point of the Aston valley or peak Thoumasset at 2741 meters altitude.

A few minutes from the town, the skiing resort of Beille is now the leading Nordic skiing in the Pyrenees. Located 1800 meters above sea level, it offers a breathtaking panorama of the Pyrenees, and provides a wide range of sports and wellness.
