The village is located in the Hautes Cévennes Ardèche. Classified as a "village of character", it is perched on a basalt peak, located at the confluence of three torrential rivers: the Volane, the Bise and the Mas.
Antraigues deserves! After a few bends following the course of the Volane from Vals-les-Bains, you will discover a landscape where basalt organs are omnipresent. These witnesses of the intense volcanic activity in Ardèche several hundred thousand years ago, unfold in and all around the village: Basalt circuit, Volcan d'Aizac, Neck de Craux, Cascade de l'Espissard...
The central square, called Place de la Résistance, hosts artists, boules players, parties, markets and festivals... The café terraces give a southern air to this picturesque little corner in the heart of the Regional Natural Park of Ardèche mountains.
Home to Jean Ferrat, to whom a museum space is devoted, the town still hosts many artists today.
The view extends to infinity over valleys lined with oaks, beeches and chestnut trees, some of which are so old that they knew Saint Roch, the patron saint of the village (born around 1350 in Montpellier), venerated by a pilgrimage every August 16 to the chapel of the same name located in the woods north of the village.
