Village of Savoie, at the gates of the Maurienne valley, Argentine takes place at the foot of the Lauzière massif, about fifty kilometers from Chambéry. It is located not far from Bonvillaret, Montsapey and Saint-Georges-d'Hurtières.
Installed at more than 450 meters of altitude, the town of Argentine takes its name from the silver lead mines of Montchabert. The activity melted besides the wind up throughout the Middle Ages. Mining was also resumed during the 19th century, as was quarrying slate or talc quarry. Today, hydroelectric plants have taken over the village territory.
At the heart of the Savoie, Argentine seduces passing visitors with its architectural and historical heritage, but also with its proximity to some of the most beautiful sites in the region.
